TERMS OF BOOKING

Please read before booking a course with us.

ASSUMED RISK

“Kayaking and Mountaineering are “Assumed risk” sports that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement”.

Whilst on a Highland Adventure School (HAS) course it is both the instructor and client’s duty to manage the risk of the activities.  The very nature of adventure sports increases the likelihood of accidents occurring even with the greatest level of care.  Clients must understand and accept the fact that adventure sports causes accidents ranging from minor injuries to fatalities.  To reduce the likelihood of injury, clients must follow all instructions given by the instructors.

HOW TO BOOK

Please use the "contact us" section of the the website to get in touch and book a course.  Payment of deposits and full course fees is preferably made by BACS transfer.  Your place on the course is secured when we receive your deposit or full payment and booking form.  If you have secured the course with a deposit, the final balance is due one month before the course starts.

YOUR ABILITY

Please read the course description carefully to ensure that you are the correct level for the course.  Get in touch if you are unsure and we can advise.  If our instructors deem clients to be below the skill level described in the course info, HAS reserve the right to cancel their place on the course.    Clients must be physically fit for the course they are booking on and must and declare any medical conditions however relevant they seem on the booking form.  Any new condition not stated on the form must be communicated to the instructor on the first day of the course.

EQUIPMENT

Please ensure that all your equipment is in good working order before attending a course.  HAS reserve the right to cancel a booking if we deem the equipment used to be unsafe.  Any equipment that is included in the course cost  is checked regularly but it is also your responsibility to check it is in good working order. Damage to HAS equipment may incur additional charges.  HAS will not be held responsible for any personal equipment lost or damaged whilst on a course.

MEDIA

Photos and videos taken during the course may be used for marketing purposes.  Please tell an instructor if you wish not to appear in them.

TRANSPORT

Transport is not included in the HAS course costs. It is common for instructors to use their personal cars during courses but participants may be required to use their vehicles as well.  HAS will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to vehicles during a course.

CANCELLATION

If you would like to cancel a course over a month before the course starting, we will charge a £20 cancellation fee to cover the associated admin costs.  If you cancel 30-7 days prior to course you will lose your deposit.  If you choose to cancel less than a week before the course starts, you will lose you full course fee (unless a replacement is found in which case only deposit lost).  We advise taking out cancellation, curtailment and accident insurance. If HAS cancels a course for any reason, including illness, all your fees will be refunded.  Courses require a certain ratio to run, if these ratios are not met then the course will not run and a full refund will be available. HAS staff will communicate with clients to keep them updated on this matter.

CUSTOMER CARE

If at any point you are unsatisfied with the course, tell an instructor as soon as possible and we will do our utmost to sort the problem.
